Fuel Economy - What do you get out of a tank? (3rd gens only)

Dammit, How are some of you guys getting 500km to a tank? Even driving granny style I still can only manage about 400km. I once drove the tank into the ground till it was suckin fumes and it still only got about 420-430!!!

Erm... might wanna look at changing your O2 sensor or something man. I can get 600-700kms out of my tank comfortably doing suburban driving mostly. I'm averaging 9-11l/100.

So what are some basic things I can do to improve economy? Its getting a fluid flush and a cat back exhaust soon anything on top of that? Just dissapointed cause my old 2.6 TR Auto got the same 400km per tank and I thought getting a Manual 3.0ltr would improve upon that.

Number of things to check for economy, fuel filter (full of crap maybe), injectors (clogged?), air intake, yeh o2 sensor, air filter (change to k 'n' n panel)... vaccum lines (no kinks)..Check the Cat to see if its not clogged with crap.. Getting like extractors/exhaust will improve but dead set if the 3.0 / 3.5 lrt are driven within reason I cant see why you cant get 10L/100... Think anything to make the engine run easier / smoother / free will save you fuel.

Vortex muffler some 2.5 inch piping. I'm actually surprised more people don't have one! They made here but more popular overseas!

I don't know how you guys get such bad economy figures. I've got the heaviest car here
and around town and suburbs I get 500km/tank (64ltr tank). My car has a kerb mass of
1680kg plus tow bar = 1700kg.

i sometimes struggle to get 300km but thats cos my car spends alot of time just sitting idling and driving around at 20km/h

That would have to be a whole lot of idling! Don't they use around 2.8L per hour idling? Hmmm 20km/hr efficiency depends on what gear your in and brake use etc...
